The
Book of Laws or Quran does not tell us how to act upon the law as a human,
and is not always showing us a clear picture of the Law in action. We
are told to perform our prayer five times a day but the Quran did not
say how many parts (Rakat) in the Fajr prayer, how many in parts (Rakat)
in Dzuhr and Asr, Maghrib or Isha prayers, neither does it mentions the
position of Rukoo or Sujood of Salat (prayer) or the position Tasha-hod;
therefore, the law must be introduced in action. The action of our prophet
Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihe Wa Alehe) is the Quran's law in action. The
Quran tells us what to do; hence the messenger of Allah show us how to
do it. It is revelation in motion The tradition by the way of the Prophet
which is called "Nabuwwa" as it is mentioned in Sura 33, Aya
21:
"You
have indeed in the Apostle of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct)."
Nabuwwa
or prophecy of the prophets is the pattern of our life as they were
human like us and follow the message of the Creator. They had no fear
of anything but Allah's command. It was said that the Quraish came to
Prophet (P.B.U.H) and told him to stop his propagation of Islam and
they would give him what he wished. He was also threatened if he did
not stop. But his answer was: "If you put the sun in my right hand
and the moon in my left hand, I shall not stop until the law of Allah
(Quran) will be completed on this earth."
Today we are blessed by his effort and his practice of Law. So we have
the Quran, a law book and our constitution, and the " Sunna' or
tradition, the way of acting upon the law book. Sunna is a demonstration
of the laws of the Quran in the tradition of our beloved Prophet. Mohammed
Ibn-Abdullah, the last messenger of Allah, left us with two valuables:
"The Book of Allah" and "His tradition," and he
said, "I leave two valuables amongst you, the book of Allah and
my tradition."
